The branding process began with extensive research into the local culture and the café’s target demographic. I aimed to create a logo and visual identity that would not only stand out but also feel like a natural extension of the Lakeview neighborhood
Designs incorporated hand-drawn elements, evoking a sense of craftsmanship and authenticity. The color palette was inspired by the rich tones of freshly roasted coffee beans, paired with warm, earthy hues to create a welcoming atmosphere. The typography was carefully chosen to balance modernity with a touch of nostalgia, reflecting the café’s role as both a contemporary coffee shop and a community fixture.
To promote various events and offerings at Kickstand Coffee, I was responsible for designing flyers and curating shop art that would engage customers and enhance the café’s community-focused vibe.
Kickstand Coffee, a shop in Lakeview Chicago, sought a visual identity that reflected its vibrant, community-focused ethos while staying true to its roots as a cozy neighborhood café. The challenge was to create a brand that would resonate with both regular patrons and new visitors, encapsulating the warmth and creativity of the space.
My time involved branding, design, flyers, art curation, and environmental murals. Throughout years designing for this home away from home, my style was able to come through stronger than ever.
